Faith and Repentance-the Weapon to Win the War

Mar 1:14 After John had been put in prison, Jesus went to Galilee and preached the Good News from God.
Mar 1:15 “The right time has come,” he said, “and the Kingdom of God is near! Turn away from your sins and believe the Good News!”
Mar 1:16 As Jesus walked along the shore of Lake Galilee, he saw two fishermen, Simon and his brother Andrew, catching fish with a net.
Mar 1:17 Jesus said to them, “Come with me, and I will teach you to catch people.”
Mar 1:18 At once they left their nets and went with him.
Mar 1:19 He went a little farther on and saw two other brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in their boat getting their nets ready.
Mar 1:20 As soon as Jesus saw them, he called them; they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and went with Jesus.

I. Repentance

1. Is a change of a misguided mind concerning

2. Is manifested by its effects

Contrition-having a remorse or guilt
Confession-Admission of a commission
Self-abhorrence-You hate what you have done

3. Signs of true repentance

Carefulness not to fall into our former sins again
Holy indignation against ourselves for our sins past
A greater hatred of all sin, than ever we had a love for it.
Constant striving against secret sins
Thorough obedience rendered cheerfully to all God’s commands.

II. How long should a man go on repenting?

I hope to carry my repentance to the very gates of heaven.
As long as there is an opportunity
Every time we come to our senses

III. The result of true repentance and faith

Our lives would become perfume for others to smell
Our lives would become the light for others to see
People would believe in God and they will become his disciples
The more will see and have a tangible experience of the kingdom of God

IV. Conclusion

War and battles in this world are not necessarily won through warfare and ammunition but they can be won through the change of hearts.  They can be won through faith in God who teaches his children the values in life, values that love and preserve life.

The best weapon to make the world a good place to live in is transforming people from evil ways to do good.
