The Kingdom of God Likened to a Mustard Seed and Yeast

Mat 13:31 Jesus told them another parable: “The Kingdom of heaven is like this. A man takes a mustard seed and sows it in his field.
Mat 13:32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it grows up, it is the biggest of all plants. It becomes a tree so that birds come and make their nests in its branches.”
Mat 13:33 Jesus told them still another parable: “The Kingdom of heaven is like this. A woman takes some yeast and mixes it with a bushel of flour until the whole batch of dough rises.”

The parable of yeast and the mustard seed is one of the clearest pictures that gives us understanding about the Kingdom of God.

The writer has a clear understanding of what is a yeast and a mustard seed which belongs to the life of winemakers and agriculturists or farmers.

We, the indigenous groups know how to make wine as we call it tapey“.  This wine comes from the glutinous rice as the most quality compared to other materials like bananas and cassava.

It’s so easy to do it by just boiling the cassava until it is cooked.  The rice too should be cooked but it should be a little bit drier than the normal cooking we do for what we eat.

After the rice or whatever fruit you will use is cold enough you spread all over with the yeast and put it in a safe sealed container.  After three days check if the fermentation has started.  If it did then you finally put back in the container and wait for three months before you can enjoy drinking the wine.

What is a Yeast?

I don’t know how this yeast came to us because even before I was born this yeast had been moving with generations.  The mother yeast which supplied the vast race may have been a thousand years ago.  The yeast in the picture can be mixed into a powdered rice and baked into matchbox sizes and be dried for future use.

You just mixed this with the lukewarm cooked rice, cooked cassava or cooked bananas. The mixture proportion is four matchbox size yeast to three liters of uncooked glutinous rice.  Meaning when that three liters of glutinous rice is cooked it will be around 100 times the four matchbox yeast.

That small amount of yeast can change the taste of that large amount of rice into a wine that is favorable to the

The Kingdom of God can never be overpowered, it has the unpopular characteristic that can serve as a safe haven for all those who entrust their lives to God.

It is a kingdom that conquers all power and will always prevail in the passage of time.
